PPA is Personal Package Archives allow you to upload Ubuntu source packages to be built and published as an apt repository by Launchpad.

 
:: How to add PPA repository

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:repository/package

example:

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:emesene-team/emesene-stable
